Welcome
Summer is my favorite time of year. The rooftop bars, sweet cocktails, long sunny days, and 104 days of summer va- hmm. Phineas and Ferb made summer seem like it was filled with endless possibilities - a harsh reality we faced once the academic year was over. Negotiating time off from work, the back and forth of ‘when are you free’ (which never aligns the way you want), and checking if you can afford to have a good laugh while you’re out. The cost of everything has gone up - no secret there, but nevertheless, we can still enjoy the hot weather, night sweats, and overworking your small desk fan.
I don’t actually know what there is to look forward to in summer, but good weather is always a plus when they bring long days.
Anyway, enough of me. Let’s get into it.
Music has been a hit the last couple of weeks for me. From rediscovering old songs I have forgotten about, to new artists and vibes - here's what I want to put you on:
New Playlist - aux-3
There are quite a few new playlists I’ve made since I abandoned my blog, but my most played is my ‘aux-3’. The vibe of this playlist contains all the songs that get you moving for long car rides, a good summer vibe with friends, or even just to listen to. It’s lively, filled with R&B, Dancehall, and Afrobeats. The best way to listen to any playlist I make is on shuffle. The playlists will always update, so if you think there’s something missing - be patient - it's a work in process.
New Artist - Jianbo
Now, I’ve probably spammed my Instagram stories with music but not to worry, @Kadmij.Unapol will be up and running (to which I will be oversharing anyway). I discovered Jianbo while overindulging on TikTok. A short snip-it from his page got him added to a playlist straight away. Straight vibes, and he hasn’t missed in his discovery so far.
Jianbo is a Chinese-Vietnamese-British rapper who adds visual brilliance to his music videos, lyricisms, and overall production and does so with a mid-noughties-inspired grime flow. 'Chinatown Trouble' was the song that led me to him, and Mongkok Madness kept me around. He’s definitely worth the listen.
Songs I've Been Loving This Month
As mentioned, I have a tendency to spam my personal Instagram stories with songs I'm listening to. I can't do anything without music. This list here will most likely get updated throughout the month so be sure to check back! For now, will you be adding any of these to your playlist?
